💬 GENERAL

What does royalty free mean?

Royalty-free means that you pay a a one-time fee to gain the legal right to sync a piece of music to a project(s). Your projects may include things like commercials, video games, Youtube Videos, films, documentaries, presentations, flash websites or instructional videos. In simpler terms, Royalty-free music is an inexpensive solution that allows you to legally add great sounding music to your multimedia works.

All our music is not content ID registered so you do not have to worry about content ID claims on YouTube.

Do I need to credit WOW Sound if I use any music or sound effects in my projects?

No, it’s not mandatory, but we’d appreciate it! If you’d like a discount on our Personal Subscription Plan by crediting us in your content, check out our Creator Program!

Does WOW Sound offer bespoke music and sound design services?

Yes! If you have a project that requires custom music or sound design, we offer music and sound design services for games, film, trailers, media, and television. Depending on the genre, our starting rate for music is from USD$600 per minute. The rates for sound effects range from USD$30 – 80 per SFX, including variations. For more inquiries and detailed rates, please write to us at [email protected].

Does WOW Sound offer edits for music sold on the site?

No, we do not. Sorry about that!

💳 SUBSCRIPTION

What happens if I cancel or don't renew my subscription? Do I need to take my projects down?

If you cancel or don’t renew, you don’t need to take your projects down. Any game or project released under an active subscription remains licensed forever, so you can continue selling it. Plus, player streams or gameplay uploads aren’t considered new projects.

Can I cancel whenever? And how does it work?

Yes! You can cancel your subscription anytime under your 'My Account' Column, click on 'My Subscriptions'. If you forget to cancel and haven’t downloaded any tracks, we offer a full refund within 14 days. Learn more about how our subscription works and who it’s for

After canceling my subscription, can I continue using the music or sound effects tracks?

Once your subscription ends, your license to use the music and SFX expires. To use tracks in new projects after canceling, you’ll need to renew your subscription or buy them individually.

Do I have to continue my subscription plan after launching my game?

Once you launch your game with an active subscription, the files remain legally tied to it even if you cancel, so you don’t need to repurchase standalone packs. If you plan to add more audio or create new content, you can renew your subscription or buy additional packs.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Under your 'My Account' Column, click on 'My Subscriptions'.

The subscription page will show up and you can click the 'Cancel plan' button to cancel it.

Can I use WOW Sound content for my podcast?

Yes! You can use our music in podcasts. During an active subscription, you can download and reuse music and sound effects as often as you like. However, if your subscription expires, you can’t use downloaded content in future episode.

What are the restrictions on the Personal Subscription plan?

The Personal Plan is for solo creators earning under $100K per year, for personal projects or one-man freelance work with clients (excluding TV/broadcast rights).

Which plan allows me to license music for videos I am making for a client?

Both plans support client projects, but it depends on your situation: if you're a solo, self-employed creator earning under $100K/year, our Personal Plan covers freelance client work; if you're a company or earn over $100K/year, you'll need the Business Plan.

I need to make a video for both online and broadcast. May I use the Business Subscription plan for music for my video?

No, our Business Plan is strictly for video games, web, apps, podcast, social corporate content. Broadcast or paid streaming rights (e.g., Netflix, Hulu, Disney+) aren’t included. For those, please purchase our Legendary Music License.

Is the whole catalog under the subscription plan?

Yes! All music tracks and sound effects are included in all the subscription plan.

What is a Creator Program?

Our Creator Program offers a 70% discount off our Subscription Plans (Personal and Business) to content creators who credit with a link to our website on every video, video game, project, apps or post they created using our library.

How many audio tracks can I download?

With a Subscription (Personal, Business, or Creator Program Plan), you can download up to 999 tracks per month. Each main track and its variations are counted separately—for example, the MTG Bounce and Battle FULL Loop comes with 7 submixes, so it will be counted as 8 tracks in total. Our download limit ensures a carefully curated, high-quality selection while supporting the artists behind every sound. It maintains a copyright-safe, worry-free experience and encourages intentional creativity, helping you find the perfect sounds for your project.

Where can I check how many tracks I have downloaded?

You can view your download count under 'My Account' > 'Account Details'. The monthly download limit is 999.

🛠️ TECHNICAL

What is a FULL Loop?

A FULL Loop is complete musical mix that is meant to loop over and over again, seamlessly and endlessly. It does not contain an introduction and an ending. Track durations vary and may be as short as 10 seconds or as long as 5 minutes. Learn more about our music mixes.

I have issues checking out the tracks, I added tracks to the cart but the basket shows empty.

Please try going to the search page to make sure you selected your license tier and currency. After selecting them, try rechecking your basket; you should see the tracks in your basket. If it doesn't work, please email us at [email protected].

Where is the download link after making a purchase?

You'll receive a download link via email with your order. You can also log into your account under 'Order History' to download your files. Small downloads arrive in minutes, but larger ones take longer—1GB takes about 2 minutes to compress and 15 minutes to download over 2.4G Wi-Fi. Your licensed tracks are available for 2 weeks after purchase. If you don’t receive the email, check your Spam or Junk folder. If it's missing after 30 minutes, contact us for assistance.

What type of file format will the music and sound effects be sent to me?

You can choose to download the files in .wav or .mp3 format. Our .wav files are delivered in stereo (uncompressed lossless audio) in either 44.1Khz or 48kHz and 16-bit or 24-bit.

Can I download both WAV and MP3 formats on your website?

Sorry for the inconvenience, but our system only allows downloading in one format. Please choose carefully between WAV or MP3. We recommend downloading the highest-quality WAV file, which you can later convert to MP3 or other formats if needed.

How do I edit my playlist?

To edit the playlist, simply tick the tracks on the 'Checkbox', select the 'Action' you want to do and click 'Proceed'.

Will the WOW Sound watermark still be present after I purchase a license?

No. The "WOW Sound" voiceover is only present in the audio preview on our website and Soundcloud. After you purchase a license, you will be able to download a clean copy.

My account doesn't exist on your site, and download links from past purchases don't work either.

We launched our revamped site on a new platform on 8th April 2022, so the accounts and past purchases are not transferable even if you create a new account on our current site :(

But fret not; we have a record of all past purchases. If you need files from your past purchases, simply email us at [email protected] with your email address or the invoice number, and we will send you the files via WeTransfer.

📋 LICENSES

Am I allowed to modify the content of my purchases?

Yes you may, but the copyright still belongs to WOW Sound. As such, copying, redistribution and resale of the modified content is not allowed.

Can I use the watermarked audio I downloaded in my project?

The watermarked audio you downloaded is provided to help you test and preview how the sound fits within your project during development. However, it cannot be used in any final or publicly released project, even with the watermark.

This allows you to experiment freely while ensuring the final project uses fully licensed, watermark-free audio for the best experience. Once you’re ready, you can purchase the license to get the high-quality version without watermarks. If you have any questions about licensing or need help selecting the right sounds, feel free to contact us—we’re happy to assist!

I bought music under the Common License for my game, can I use the music for my game's trailer too?

Yes! The Common License covers commercial and non-commercial video games, including online marketing content like trailers and promotions on web and social media. This license is specially discounted for video game-related content.

Can I use music from the same pack for different games if I purchased a Common license?

Yes, you can! The Common License now allows you to use the music in unlimited games.

Can I use your music and sound effects in a stand-alone music track or perform it?

No, our music is licensed for synchronization in media productions (e.g., games, videos, films) and cannot be used as stand-alone tracks or for performance. Example: Adding lyrics or editing our music into a track for sale on iTunes or live performance is a copyright infringement.

However, you may use our sound effects in a music track or performance.

Can I include your music for my video game's OST (Original Soundtrack) or as part of any multimedia template?

Unfortunately, we do not allow our music to be sold or redistributed separately as OST or as part of any multimedia templates in games, websites, etc. View Terms of Use.

If you'd like to include our music in your game's OST, we suggest adding an in-game Jukebox where players can unlock and replay soundtracks or cutscenes at any point in the game. 😊

Players who bought my game on platforms like Steam, Itch.io etc, have access to the music files when they buy a game. Does that fall under redistributing unsynchronized music?

Using our music synchronized within the game and selling the video game commercially is not a problem as long as the buyers do not have access to our music or sound effects in standalone elements. However, We understand due to the nature of certain game engines; the video games are redistributed in a folder that includes music, sound effects, art, and so on as they are needed to run the game. In this case, it's fine, so don't worry too much about it :)

Does the music I buy belong to me?

No, you do not own the music you purchase. The copyright to the music remains the property of WOW Sound/the composer. Purchasing a license only allows you to use the music to sync to your projects and purposes in accordance with the license agreement.

Can I purchase music on behalf of my client as I am a freelancer/agency?

Yes, you can, the license will then belong to your client and the license terms still apply depending on the license purchased.

Can I use your music or sound effects as an element of a logo or branding?

No. None of our music/SFXs can be used in logos or be trademarked. If you would like use it in logos, please write to us at [email protected].

Are there restrictions on how I use music and sound effects from WOW Sound?

Yes. Our license permits usage of the music and sound effects in personal or commercial projects for yourself, your clients or your employer. WOW Sound music and sound effects may not be sold by itself, transferred, bartered, traded, shared, leased, or given away to any other party and the license may not be subleased to a third party. Please see our terms of use for further information.

Can I use assets bought from one Game Engine on another Game Engine? For example, purchase assets from Unity Asset Store to use on Unreal Engine.

Yes, you can! It's not a problem at all. Be sure to review each store's End User License Agreement (EULA) to ensure you are using the assets within the terms of the agreement.

Can I transfer the license if I purchase the assets as a company? (For those who leave or join the company)

Yes, you can transfer the license. Just ensure that any employee who leaves the company no longer has a copy of the music or sound effects.

Does the license for pay-per-track have an expiry date if I have yet to use the purchased asset in any project?

There is no expiry date as long as you use the licenses within the restricted usage terms.

Can I use your assets in adult content?

Yes, you can. We do not restrict usage in adult content, as we respect your decision to create any content you choose, provided it does not breach any laws in your respective country. Please read more in our Terms of Use.

Will I run into copyright issues if a player uploads my gameplay footage or livestreams my game?

No, you will not! Our music is all DMCA free and copyright safe and is not registered with any content ID. You can be assured that there won't be copyright issues forcing your players to remove their gameplay footage with our music or sound effects or have their audio muted.

Do the WOW Sound licenses apply to assets I bought from other asset stores?

No, they do not. If you purchase a license from other asset stores, you must follow the respective EULA of each asset store. If you purchase any music or sound effects on the WOW Sound site, you follow our license terms here on our site.

Do I need to fill in a cue sheet?

You will only need a cue-sheet when you are using music for a production that is to be publicly performed on a television network, radio station, theatrical release (e.g. films or videos). The cue-sheet is usually prepared by producers or the licensor of the production.
